Adult Program FAQ

I want to get a distance learning degree, where do I start?

Where you start depends upon what level of education you are currently at. High school seniors and those with no college experience will want to start with either the Associates or Bachelor's degree schools. If you've been out of school for awhile you may do better with a Bachelors program that will award life credit for your work experience and what not. College graduates will typically want to seek the next highest degree to what they currently hold.

I know I want a Bachelor's degree. Now what?

Browse some of our lists. Take a look at the listings of colleges by majors specifically and look for something that suits you. Click on a few of the college names you find and look over their fact sheets.

How do I use those college fact sheets?

For an in-depth overview of how to use our college fact sheets, please check out our How to Use the College Fact Sheets guide.

Are all of these programs online degrees?

No, distance learning encompasses much more than just online classes. For more information about what distance learning is all about, please check out our "What is Distance Learning?" guide. For more information on the delivery methods seen in distance learning please check out our Distance Learning Formats guide.

Will I ever need to go to campus?

That depends upon the degree and college offering it and, to some extent, the individual classes. Certain schools require on campus orientations, testing, labs, and or mini-residencies. Please see the individual college fact sheets for more information.

Is this site run by a college?

DistanceLearningInfo.com is not run by any college or other institution of higher learning, nor are we run in affiliation with any such institution. By being independently owned we are better able to meet the needs of our visitors and provide unbiased information about the various programs and schools available.

Why did you build this web site?

As a former distance learning student I wanted to make other potential distance learners aware of the opportunities that existed for them. There are always alternatives to the way things are usually done, but they are all to often too hard to find

Where did you get all of this information?

I have researched all of the schools profiled here. The information was gleaned from the college web sites and other publications and organized by me for presentation here. Many hours of research have built this web site.

Will my degree be transferable?

What is transferable always depends upon the policies of the individual schools involved, but the schools profiled here are well accredited and well-recognized. The credits and degrees should transfer in most cases.
